About Prompt2Patch

Prompt2Patch generates playable synthesizer presets for Vital — the free, open-source wavetable synthesizer by Matt Tytel. Describe a sound in plain text and download a .vital preset file you can load directly into the synth.

How It Works

1. You describe the sound you want — e.g. "deep reese bass with LFO filter movement"
2. An AI model translates your description into Vital parameter values, modulations, and wavetable choices
3. The engine validates and assembles a complete .vital preset file with all 770+ parameters
4. You download the file and open it in Vital — ready to play

Data-Driven Sound Design

The AI is guided by statistical profiles extracted from over 14,000 real Vital presets. For each category (Bass, Lead, Pad, Pluck, FX, Keys) the system knows typical parameter ranges, common modulation patterns, popular wavetable choices, and effect chain statistics. This keeps generated presets grounded in real-world sound design practice.

Limitations

• Generated presets use factory wavetables only — no custom wavetable synthesis yet
• Results vary — the AI interprets your description creatively, so regenerating the same prompt may yield different sounds
• Free tier is limited to 3 generations per day
